We really enjoyed our somewhat frustrating visit. This may be a feature as well as a defect. There are no restrooms, not even pit toilets. To make this NM more visitor friendly certainly more signage would help. We tried three different roads and got out and hiked around what we thought was the correct red rock formation but no luck. The road is basically just a wash and finding a route through it is like "choose your own adventure." There are almost no directional signs so sadly we never did find it. We went to Devil's Throat, a large hole in the ground, and tried to find Little Finland. We were there for about 5 hours and never saw another vehicle or human. without a 4-wheel drive and high clearance vehicle. Do not attempt any of them except Gold Butte Rd. The dirt/stone/gravel roads after this are sometimes very rough. There is a rough paved road as far as Whitney Pockets, an area with incredible pocketed rock formations in various colors. Gold Butte NM is in a remote area of Nevada.
